QR Ph (Philippine Payment Standard)
Reference entry · last updated 20260910
QR Ph is the Philippine national standard for QR payment codes. It supports payments between customers and recipients using different participating providers.[1]
1. First principles: payment details
A payment QR code presents information that a participating app reads to initiate a transfer. A common standard allows compatible apps to interpret the code.[1]
2. Merchant and person-to-person branding
BSP’s FAQ dated 20260729 assigns the QR Ph brand to person-to-merchant payments and the InstaPay QR brand to person-to-person transfers. Both use the national QR Ph standard.[1]
The rebranding leaves the technical standards, operating rules, and payment infrastructure unchanged.[1]
3. Relationship to the transfer
The QR code supplies the payment details at the start of the process. The payment service handles the transfer, including the customer debit and credit. Reading a code alone does not establish that payment has completed.
